The Kenya Wildlife Service has announced new entry charges for all national parks, reserves, and sanctuaries. The revised fees officially come into effect on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following the approval of the Wildlife Conservation and Management (Access, Entry and Conservation Fees) Regulations 2025 under Legal Notice No. 160 of 2025.
The changes aim to strengthen conservation funding, improve visitor experiences, and keep Kenya’s world-famous parks competitive in the global tourism market.
New vs. Old Park Entry Fees
When Do the New Fees Start?
The new tariffs will apply from October 1, 2025.
KWS has clarified that any payments already made through the eCitizen platform before the announcement will remain valid. This means that only bookings made from October 1 onwards will be subject to the new rates.
Why the Changes?
According to KWS and the Ministry of Tourism & Wildlife:
- To boost conservation funding and cover rising park management costs.
- To improve visitor experiences across the parks.
- To ensure Kenya’s protected areas remain globally competitive while safeguarding natural heritage.
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano assured travelers of a smooth transition to the new structure, while KWS Director General Erustus Kanga emphasized that pre-paid tickets will still be honored.
